About FamilyFunds

FamilyFunds is a platform for education and support in family finances. AI provides ideas and recommendations for your consideration โ€” you make the final decisions. FamilyFunds helps you stay informed; we don't give financial advice. The platform does not replace financial advisors, accountants, official government sites (CRA, Service Canada), or certified tax software. For important decisions, we encourage consulting qualified specialists.

FamilyFunds helps you model scenarios, explore options, and prepare data for decision-making. When needed, you can connect with a Specialist who will match you with the right expert.

We help you understand your finances and prepare documents and calculations; human expertise and official channels remain essential. AI speeds up analysis and spots gaps, but it cannot replace understanding your concerns and life priorities โ€” it is the combination of experts and AI that delivers the best outcome.

Our story

The RCSLogic team, made up of immigrants and Canadian-born members, noticed a common gap: many people lack the knowledge and tools to manage personal and family finances. We introduced the concept of a "family doctor" for money โ€” a trusted place for ongoing planning and support โ€” and built FamilyFunds as a platform where you can upload your data, analyze it with AI, and get practical recommendations to strengthen your financial position.

Recent updates: Small-Business Tracker is now a Premium feature with invoice generation, timesheet-to-bill workflow, and client billing. Premium users have direct access to the RCSLogic team for personalized business support.

Our plans and values

We continue to develop AI to help users grow and reach financial and career goals, and we plan to bring in experts from different fields. AI can calculate and recommend, but only human experts can understand your emotions, where you are stuck, and help shape your life plan. Together they deliver real steps forward.

Join us

FamilyFunds is a community of users and experts helping each other. Your feedback matters: reviews, suggestions, and ideas for new services. The platform is free for everyone; you can participate and help it grow in Canada and beyond. Our mission is to make financial management accessible and understandable for every family.

Coverage Gap Analysis Life Insurance โš  $250K of $800K needed Disability Income โš  No coverage โ€” income at risk Home Insurance โœ“ 2 gaps found โ€” connect with insurance specialists

Identify gaps before they become expensive

๐Ÿ›ก๏ธ Insurance Planning

Premium service. Analyze coverage across all policy types, identify gaps, and connect with licensed insurance specialists โ€” life, disability, home, auto, and business.

Purpose

Most Canadian families are either under-insured in some areas or paying for overlapping coverage they don't need. Insurance Planning maps what you have against what you actually need โ€” and shows exactly where the gaps are before they become expensive problems.

How to use

1 Enter your existing policies

Add your current coverage: life insurance (term or whole), disability, critical illness, home, and auto. Include policy limits, premiums, and beneficiaries. Import from documents or enter manually.

2 Set your income and family profile

Enter your household income, number of dependants, mortgage balance, and any business obligations. The tool calculates how much coverage you actually need for income replacement and debt protection.

3 Review coverage gap analysis

See a visual breakdown of each policy type โ€” green means adequate, yellow/red means a gap. The analysis compares your current coverage against your calculated needs and flags high-priority gaps.

4 Connect with specialists or optimize policies

Use the Specialist button to connect with a licensed insurance advisor for your specific gap, or review AI-generated optimization tips to reduce premiums without reducing coverage.

Capabilities

Covers life (term and whole), disability income, critical illness, home, auto, and business insurance. Calculates income replacement needs, debt coverage requirements, and dependent care costs. Tracks all policies with renewal dates and premium totals. Connects with 4 specialist types: car, home, business, and life insurance advisors.

Start with life and disability insurance โ€” these are the two most commonly under-insured areas for Canadian families with children. Getting those right first has the highest impact on financial security.

๐Ÿ  Family Analytics Dashboard

Premium service. Consolidated family financial overview โ€” net worth, cash flow trends with outlier detection, retirement runway, smart alerts, and household financial health score.

Purpose

When your finances are spread across portfolios, bank accounts, properties, and retirement accounts, it is hard to see the whole picture at once. Family Analytics pulls everything together โ€” net worth, monthly cash flow, retirement date, and smart alerts โ€” into one dashboard that updates every time you use any FamilyFunds service.

How to use

1 Connect your data sources

Family Analytics automatically reads from your Portfolio tracker, Budget & Expenses, Retirement Planner, Financial Planning, and Property Tracker. No manual entry required โ€” keep those services up to date and the dashboard reflects the latest numbers instantly.

2 Review the net worth overview

See total assets minus liabilities broken down into: investable assets, retirement accounts (RRSP/TFSA/LIRA), property equity, and cash. The net worth trend chart shows month-by-month changes so you can see if you are building wealth.

3 Analyze cash flow trends

The Cash Flow Trend section shows rolling 3-month and 6-month averages for income and expenses, imported from your Budget tracker. Outlier months (one-time windfalls or unusual expenses) are automatically detected and excluded from the averages so they don't distort the picture โ€” but shown for reference.

4 Act on smart alerts

Smart Alerts scan all your data and surface the most important gaps: emergency fund coverage, RESP contribution targets, savings rate, portfolio concentration, and retirement income sufficiency. Each alert links directly to the service where you can take action.

Capabilities

Net worth tracking (assets, liabilities, equity), cash flow trends with 3/6-month rolling averages and outlier exclusion, retirement runway projection, household financial health score (0โ€“100), smart alert system, and financial independence countdown. Reads live data from all FamilyFunds services โ€” no separate data entry.

The financial health score improves as you fill in more data. Start by adding your retirement planner and budget data โ€” those two feed the most important alerts and have the biggest impact on the score.
